FAWKNER HOUSE
2022
Rob Mills
Overview
Crafted in Collaboration with Beulah International and Rob Mills Architecture & Interiors, Fawkner House is a multi-residential rarity.
Located in Melbourne’s prestigious South Yarra & Domain precinct, the design takes on signature Rob Mills form, defined by sweeping curves, natural light, expansive views and refined finishes.
“We recognised the highly sought after location in the prestigious South Yarra and Domain Precinct, and looked to deliver a building like no other to truly set a benchmark for luxury living in Melbourne.” Adelene Teh – Executive Director Beulah
Fawkner House has been recognised on the global design stage recently, after being long-listed in the Housing Project category of the ever-popular international Dezeen Awards 2022. More than 300 buildings from 48 countries have made the cut across the awards’ 12 architecture categories, with Fawkner House named as one of 35 Australian projects.
Fawkner House also took home the award for ‘Best Residential Development’ at the 2020-2021 Asia Pacific International Property Awards, an award highly regarded globally.
The project is located in the Domain Precinct, and pays homage to Le Corbusier’s 1954 chapel Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, France, through its combination of organic mass, distinctive form and spatial diversity. The result is a celebration of openness that includes innovative light wells, a double-height foyer and expansive flowing spaces.
The building’s form is overtly sculptural, defined by curved features that rise up and draw light within. A signature use of curves continues inside, allowing sunlight to flow unimpeded through large volumes of space and across handcrafted finishes.
Every decision was made to heighten the senses and create a sanctuary in order to go beyond functional apartment design and traditional luxury, thereby creating not only a better quality home, but a better quality of life.
